Subtlety can sometimes be a beautiful thing, and in an age where aesthetics are so important, it’s often the most understated of artistic styles that grabs your attention. With that in mind, you’d expect only the finest from an illustrator-turned-musician. Today, that comes in the shape of aptly aliased Parisian, Crayon. New cut, ‘Bones’ - lifted from his recently released EP Flee, is an entrancing, effervescent electronic storm. Incorporating finely picked elements of subversive electronica, with the buoyancy of modern pop, Crayon carefully places his catchy vocal loops over bubbling drum snaps and manipulated synth arrangements to gorgeous effect. Signed to rising French electronic label Roche Musique (Chloe Martini, FKJ, Karma Kid, etc), Crayon is certainly an artist worth getting animated about. -JC
